There is a great misconception that combat sports are all about aggression and intensity. Of course, these emotions have their place. But the ironic result of my 4-year training journey at Samurai Claremont Boxing Gym has been the calming effect boxing has had on me as a person. For me, keeping active has always been a fundamental part of maintaining a healthy mental state, and after having tried so many different sports, boxing just clicked. The wealth of knowledge and leadership skills within the dojo has been hugely valuable. Having my first fight last year brought out an appreciation for the level of commitment the coaches bring to Samurai, which resulted in a win!
